Style Icon: Audrey Hepburn

...and that is why we love Audrey as our style icon.

Classic and simple, her style remains timeless to this day. By just doing her thing, Audrey reminded us that you don't have to try hard to look good. She took simple clothing items like the little black dress, black skinny trousers, and turtleneck sweaters, and turned them into wardrobe staples. She glamorized her simple style by accessorizing with ballet flats, silky neck scarfs, and big sunglasses.

Sounds too comfy to be true, but these styles have stuck around since the last Breakfast at Tiffany's and now we'd like to re-introduce them in our own strut savvy way.

Look One : Breakfast at Tiffany's

"Like, I literally just rolled out of bed and threw on these sunnies to hide my face!"

1. Let out your inner girly side with a little black dress. Wear with flats and you're a classy lookin' lady!

2. New York, New York! Get that Uptown city girl who only shops vintage look with - oh, so, trendy - pearls. Vintage jewels are a dime!

3. Brunch is usually an occasion spent mingling with randoms from last night so you're either not looking too good or you're hiding from that guy you didn't mean to flirt with! Add a little edge or go incognito with a pair of oversized black sunnies.

4. Never second guess a girl with pointy toes... she usually means business, or just knows how kick-ass pointy toe shoes can be! Try the Regina Ballet Flats.

Look Two: Funny Face

"Let's drink coffee and listen to vinyl..."

1. For classic feminine flare wrap your neck around a light silk printed scarf and don your larger than life shades!

2. Get comfy with a cashmere oversized sweater to get the "I just threw this on and don't I look awesome" effect.

3. Wear the cropped black pants to let the boys know you're cool to hang. That's right, boys! You're groovy. You dig music.

4. You don't need heels to look amazing.. Your Carson Ballet Flats from Frye say that you are laid back and trendy... and you're either a tiny dancer or black swan! Oooo, mysterious!

Picking an outfit can get a little crazy sometimes... If I'm rushing to get ready and don't know what to where, the last thing I need is to get OCD on fashion and tear my closet inside out! This is when I turn to my internet fashion friends, the style blogging gurus, for some outfit inspiration...

1. BOYFRIEND + BLAZER

What to Do: Work and Play, Happy Hour with Sushi!

What to Wear: Get business cas chic with the boyfriend and blazer look! Boyfriend jeans have a little more edge than your basic skinny or flare jeans, because you can roll them up and pair with heels! Add any colored blazer over a neutral colored tank and the look is complete!

2.  DENIM + LEATHER

What to Do: Concert, Coffee Shop, or Art Gallery!

What to Wear:  Make an artsy fashionista statement with denim and leather! Pair a leather jacket with a denim dress or jeans. Switch it up and pair a denim top with leather pants or shorts! Complete the look with booties or flats and a leather handbag or clutch.

3. DONE-UP DENIM + TEE

What to Do: Late-Night Movie, or Bowling!

What to Wear: Go for an edgy-rocker look with done-up denim and a tee! Pair any printed or colored denim with a casual, comfy tee (try an oversized rock n' roll band tee for kicks). Dress it up with some heels or booties and fun jewelry.

Zodiac Necklaces - What's Your Sign?

Looking at another person’s jewelry is like reading a map to their personality. My favorite jewelry pieces are the ones that tell a story, such as my zodiac necklace. When people ask, “What is that?” I can say, “This is my zodiac sign: it means that I am loving, courageous, special, and awesome!” They won't know what it really means, but at least I can walk away believing that I am really loving, courageous, special and awesome... **wink wink**

The artist behind IJA Designs, Erin, is pretty amazing herself! DIY: Ombre Cutoffs with Studs

Denim cutoffs are a must have staple item for Summer.  With all of the variations of prints, textures, and colors, we are constantly day dreaming about denim. Maybe you've got some old denim that could use a makeover or just want to make your cutoffs stand out... If so, we've got a fun and easy DIY project for you to try.

All you need is love and... scissors, bleach, water, studs, pliers, and denim.

Start with finding the right pair of denim. Either recycle your old cutoffs or start from scratch -  I wanted some high-rise mom jeans for a vintage look so I went to Goodwill. They were out of mom jeans so I left with classic black Levi's (only $5!)

Try on the jeans and mark where you want them to be cut. Cut about 1.5"-2" below where you marked - this allows room for error and extra fray. If you're not too savvy with scissors, try using your favorite pair of cutoffs as a guide.

Mix 1:1 bleach and water (I used 2 cups of each). Place the shorts halfway into mixture and walk away for a few hours - I actually forgot about mine all day! When it fades to the color you desire, remove and rinse with water. To neutralize bleach, wash shorts with 1/2 c baking soda (no detergent!) Dry and proceed.

For an edgy rocker look use real metal studs. Metal studs can be hard to find... Lucky me, I had some leftover from my wannabe punk years. Using pliers, I pried some studs off an old belt and it was actually really easy!

Lay the studs on the jeans wherever you want them to go. Poke the prongs on the back of the stud through the denim. Use the pliers again to flatten and secure... and you are done!!!
